I love this idea of just letting life happen. Change is inevitable, so we might as well accept it. "I no longer feel annoyed when something does not go as planned." HAH! This is something I'm still working on. Thank you for sharing!
Scheduling recovery instead of hoping it finds you β that's a completely different relationship with yourself. The two-year-old searching for treasure without knowing what's there is the kind of image that stays with you. There's something about that openness that most adults spend years trying to get back.
The line that stayed with me most was, "Recovery was not an afterthought. It was scheduled."
I think that's such an important shift.
So many of us plan for the output but not for the recovery that makes the output sustainable. Treating rest as part of the process rather than something we have to earn feels like a much healthier way of living.
I also loved your reflection about no longer scolding yourself when things don't go to plan. There's something incredibly freeing about replacing self-criticism with curiosity.
Thank you for sharing such an honest and thoughtful reflection.
This really resonated with me. The idea of replacing self-criticism with curiosity and making rest part of the plan instead of a reward is something I needed to hear. I also loved the image of exploring life like a two-year-old looking for treasureβthere's so much wisdom in approaching life with openness instead of pressure. Thank you for sharing this.
I am pleased that it resonated with you. Thank you for taking time to read and share your thoughts. It means a lot. Curiosity and playβ¦we all need a bit of it π
Zoe, this was such a gentle read β I loved the reminder that recovery doesnβt have to be an afterthought, and that the drift can be part of the process too.

I think we're all works in progress.
The beautiful thing is that once we begin nurturing ourselves with a little more kindness, it's hard to go back to the old way.
Wishing you all the very best as you continue that journey.
Be well. πππ
