Savor the Moment
Blooming in June
It is the twenty-fourth of June.
The article I usually write at the beginning of the month is arriving now instead.
I have been living it.
I gave myself permission to feel the days first.
To pay attention.
To let the month settle into me before I tried to say anything about it.
And now it has.
Now I am here, and I have something to share.
June has been full.
Full of weekend events with family and friends. Celebrations, graduations, milestone birthday parties. The kind of energy that gathers when people you love are in the same room.
The pace has been swift, and then the follow-up has been slow.
I planned for the big events, and I made rest part of the plan.
Recovery was not an afterthought. It was scheduled.
One does not go without the other.
Not any longer.
Something became clear to me this month.
For a long time I had a system running inside me that I did not fully see. When something did not go as planned, I would assess what went wrong, criticize what I did not do, and make a plan to do better next time.
I would actually scold myself.
Redirect myself.
Hold myself accountable to a standard I never chose.
I had been trained to do that.
That training supported me doing things that did not align with my natural rhythm. It made me feel bad toward myself. It expected far too much from me.
I chose not to do that any longer.
My Mindful Mondays this month have been about resetting.
About recognizing the drift and understanding that the drift is part of the process.
I no longer feel annoyed when something does not go as planned.
I notice it.
I let it be what it is.
Until this season of my life I did not recognize how much negative and critical energy lived in that space.
Now I do.
And I am choosing differently.
My Soulful Sundays are something else entirely.
That is the day I listen to my soul.
I rest. I write. I read. I meditate.
I breathe slowly when I can.
I tend to what is inside me, and I let that be enough.
I am learning to pay attention in a way I had not before.
My intuition is loud this season.
I am learning how to tap into it.
Savoring the moments and recognizing when something is speaking to me.
I pause.
Paying attention means stopping and noticing.
Not pushing away what comes up.
Not dismissing what does not seem to fit.
This month has been full of serendipitous moments.
Money found its way to me more than once, in ways I was not expecting.
Things I have been working on for a long time are coming to fruition.
The more I release, the more arrives.
The more I let go, the more I trust.
The more I trust, the more things work out.
I held the words “trust the process” for a long time without fully living them.
This month I lived them.
There is a lightness in my breathing now.
A spaciousness I did not manufacture.
This month gave me permission to explore the way a two-year-old searches for treasures in a pile of dirt.
Not knowing what will be there.
Just excited to dig.
Each month is building onto the next.
I can feel that now.
And I can feel this one settling into me, ready to be carried forward.

I love this idea of just letting life happen. Change is inevitable, so we might as well accept it. "I no longer feel annoyed when something does not go as planned." HAH! This is something I'm still working on. Thank you for sharing!
Scheduling recovery instead of hoping it finds you — that's a completely different relationship with yourself. The two-year-old searching for treasure without knowing what's there is the kind of image that stays with you. There's something about that openness that most adults spend years trying to get back.
